CENTER LEADERSHIP

Dr. Paris Stringfellow

Program Director
Dr. Stringfellow serves as Program Director for the RESA Center, managing the logistics and communication for the Center’s many initiatives and projects. Stringfellow has an extensive background in both industry and academia. Prior to joining the RESA team, Stringfellow designed main control rooms in the nuclear industry and served as an adjunct faculty and lecturer at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. She also was a key founder in a start-up company which examined human error in workplace safety and quality control.

David Vaughn

Director of Global Engagement
David Vaughn is a Professor of Practice with Clemson University and an industry advisor for Clemson Engineers for Developing Countries. He has over 24 years of project management experience in diverse industries, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, oil and gas, steel, microelectronics, water treatment, and contingency operations. His experience in rapid deployment, planning, disaster management, and reconstruction is a culmination of his work with the US Army Sustainment Command, FEMA, and various private companies. Vaughn is currently working with RESA to develop new resilience-based projects.

ADVISORY BOARD

Dr. Bob Jones

Provost & Executive VP of Student Affairs, Clemson University
Dr. Jones provides leadership for Clemson University’s undergraduate and graduate programs, academic support programs, research, and public service activities. Jones earned his bachelor’s degree in forest management and master’s in forestry from Clemson and his doctorate in forest ecology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse University. Jones has published more than 60 refereed articles and was the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on more than $4.6 million in externally funded research.

Dr. Anand Gramopadhye

Dean, College of Engineering, Computing, & Applied Sciences (CECAS), Clemson University
Dr. Gramopadhye provides leadership for CECAS and its 15 departments as Dean. Dr. Gramopadhye has served Clemson since 1992, as an assistant professor, chair of the Industrial Engineering department, and assistant to the CECAS Dean. Gramopadhye’s research focuses on solving human-machine system design problems and modeling human performance in technologically complex systems such as health care, aviation, and manufacturing. He has been principal investigator for more than 75 research grants and awards, generating more than $45 million in funding.

Bob Klepper

President, AIG Client Risk Solutions 
Klepper is President of Client Risk Solutions for AIG Commercial. He is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of risk engineering and consulting capabilities, along with technical research and analytical services provided to AIG Commercial clients worldwide. Previously, he previously held the role of Chief Underwriting Officer and Global Chief Engineering Officer for AIG Property & Special Risks. He also served as Global Property Executive, Asia Pacific Region, for AIG, where he was responsible for the leadership, strategic planning, and profitability of AIG’s Commercial and Energy Property businesses across Japan, Asia, and Australia.

Ruth Calabrese

Senior Vice President and Head of Operations and Strategic Partnerships 
Ruth Calabrese is responsible for strategic planning, talent management, and execution of a complex operations platform for a global team of over 700 employees. In her nineteen-year career with AIG, she has held a number of senior leadership positions including Senior Vice President, Technical Underwriting Manager, and Zonal Vice President, Environmental Division. Ms. Calabrese has a B.S. in Environmental Biology from Long Island University/Southampton, a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a licensed insurance broker. Calabrese represents AIG as the head of the AIG-Clemson Partnership.


Anthony Lyons

Executive Vice President Client Analysis, AIG Global Casualty
Tony Lyons is Head of Technical & Analytic Solutions for Client Risk Solutions (CRS). In his current role, he is responsible for CRS partnerships, thought leadership and liaising with technology providers to support the development of the technical and analytic platform. He is a graduate of the University of Limerick, Ireland, from where he holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Law). He also holds the professional designation – Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London. In addition, he holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the American Insurance Institute.

Dr. Javanbarg has helped establish the research relationship with Clemson University, where he currently develops and manages the strategic natural catastrophe and man-made risk modeling projects on behalf of AIG.
